About Us

Annual Report 2025
Active Communities CIC continues to go from strength to strength. Over the past year, we’ve worked alongside our community to deliver hundreds of inclusive sessions, support more young people into volunteering and leadership, and create meaningful opportunities for residents to get active, connect and thrive.
From our Wellbeing Weekender, which brought together more than 40 local organisations, to our innovative HADO project using augmented reality sport to tackle inactivity, 2024–25 has been a year of creativity, collaboration and impact. We’re proud that our programmes are not only improving physical and mental health, but also building confidence, community pride and pathways into employment.
With the continued support of our funders, partners and volunteers, we’re ready for the next chapter; growing partnerships, empowering young leaders and ensuring that every person across our communities has the chance to unite, play and thrive.

Our why
Unequal access to sport and physical activity is a real issue, especially in underserved communities facing economic disadvantage. There is no shortage of need and demand in these communities, yet the opportunities are often missing, producing health inequalities.
Active Communities CIC is dedicated to closing this gap by providing opportunities for people in low-income, underserved communities. Our approach is all about ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, can enjoy sport and physical activity. We tailor our approach to meet the unique needs and interests of the people we serve, supporting them to tackle the inequalities they face in their lives. In simple terms, our approach changes lives, fostering a sense of pride and belonging in place, all while working towards a fairer and more inclusive society.
