Active Parks

Free sport, games and positive activities for young people, delivered in the heart of local communities.

We bring the activity to young people

Not every community has easy access to affordable sports clubs, youth centres or structured activities. Active Parks takes free sport and play into the places where young people already spend their time.

Our community coaches arrive with a range of sports and play equipment. Young people can join in, try different activities and spend time with friends in a safe and positive setting.

There is no pressure to be experienced or particularly sporty. Sessions focus on being active, having fun and giving young people something positive to do within their community.

Creating opportunities where they are needed

Some young people face cost, transport and confidence barriers that prevent them from joining structured sport. Others live in areas with limited evening, weekend or holiday activities.

Active Parks removes these barriers by providing free activities within local communities. The sessions create positive use of parks and playing fields, help our staff build trusted relationships with young people and provide routes into regular activities, volunteering and youth leadership.

Supporting Active Parks

Our current sessions are made possible through funding from BBC Children in Need and The National Lottery Million Hours programme.

We work with funders, councils, housing providers, sports clubs and community organisations to bring free youth outreach into areas where opportunities are limited.
